Let's celebrate this week by watching some of our favorite characters celebrate their birthdays! ๐๐
I was planning on writing this post around my own birthday, which was last month! ๐ That's how LONG I've been watching ALL the birthday episodes from ALL the nostalgic shows I watch! ๐บ The total number of episodes I had written down was 94! ๐ฒ Yes. You read that number right... NINETY-FOUR! ๐ณ I watched A LOT of them, but this week I knew I HAD to figure out a new process for how I am going share themed episodes on this blog and not go crazy at the same time! ๐
I used to think that to be able to share themed episodes on this blog and rank them that I had to watch EVERY episode that went with the specific theme of the week! ๐ฅ It worked for a few of the themes I've done because those themes happened to have fifteen or less episodes total... a very different number than ninety-four! ๐
By the time I reached the thirtieth birthday episode, I had completely forgotten how I felt about the first ten I watched! ๐บ So, I've come up with a new method that allows me to not have to include EVERY episode there is for the specific theme I'm doing! ๐ Here's what I've come up with...
โ I wrote EVERY show I watch/am interested in watching and folded them up. ๐
โ I put all the pieces of paper into a bag and shook them all up! ๐
โ Then, I let my sisters pick out three pieces of paper each and I chose four! ๐
โ I now had the ten shows I would be ranking for the themed post of the week! ๐
โ I looked to see how many episodes for the theme there were for each show! ๐
โ If a show had more than one episode for the chosen theme, then I wrote those episodes on paper and went through the same process I did above ๐ when picking the shows! However, my sisters didn't help pick the episodes this time around! ๐
โ After all the fun and random choosing, I had my ten shows and ten episodes chosen and couldn't wait to rank them! ๐
So, there's my new process! Yay! ๐ This new choosing process allows me to rank ten episodes and have others left to be able to do that specific theme again with a fresh pick of episodes! ๐ Also, my sisters get to be apart of my posts, which is fun! ๐
Now, if a theme has a total number of fifteen episodes or less, then I will just go ahead and rank ALL of them in one post! ๐บ This process is for those themes that have over fifteen episodes to watch! *cough* Birthday episodes! ๐๐
I hope all of that made sense! It makes sense in my head, trust me! ๐
So, let's see which shows and episodes made it into this first ranking of nostalgic BIRTHDAY episodes! ๐๐
Let's get these birthday parties started! ๐๐
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
(from least to most favorite)
#10 - Friends Like That (The Secret World of Alex Mack - S3E22)
I binge-watched this series a week before my birthday and hoped there'd be a birthday episode for the series because I knew I'd be doing this post! ๐ Sadly, this is the only episode that mentions a character's birthday, but it isn't much of a birthday episode! ๐ It doesn't give off many birthday vibes and that's the only reason it's ranked last on this list! ๐บ
PLOT: Alex meets a new student that seems friendly enough, until she turns out to be a spy for Vince who is trying to reveal that Alex is the kid who got drenched in a chemical that gave her powers! ๐ณ Will Alex have to miss her best friend's birthday party all because of having to plot a way to get Vince and his new spy off her trail? ๐ Annie (Alex's sister) is having her own new friendship problems when she thinks a girl is only pretending to be her friend so that Annie can do her schoolwork for her! ๐
Like I said before, this episode barely has any talk about Alex's friend's birthday! ๐ Also, this isn't that much of a stand-alone episode because you have to know the whole GC-161 storyline to understand the main storylines of this episode! ๐บ I still enjoyed watching this episode because I had seen all the previous ones, so I knew all the main plots and characters! ๐ This episode just isn't that much of a birthday episode and that's why it's last! ๐
#9 - Zack's Birthday (Saved By The Bell - S3E2)
This episode is super nostalgic! ๐บ I remember younger-me loving the summer episodes set at the beach club! ๐
This episode would have ranked higher if it wasn't for those sexist side remarks made by the boys! ๐ Jessie put them in their places, though! ๐ This episode has total birthday vibes as the whole gang tries to keep Zack's surprise party a surprise! ๐
PLOT: The gang start their first day of working at a beach club and are assigned their positions for the summer! ๐
Slater and Kelly are lifeguards. Jessie is a receptionist. Zack is an activity coordinator who wants to be a waiter. Screech is a waiter and Lisa is the one who got them all hired! ๐ While everyone is planning Zack's surprise party and getting used to their new jobs, Zack is trying to get the owner's daughter who is their new manager to like him! ๐ฌ Will the surprise party go off without a hitch? Will Zack break the stone wall between him and Stacy? ๐
I love this episode because of all the nostalgia and 90s vibes that come with watching it! ๐ I love how it's a summer episode and a birthday episode because my birthday is in June! So, it's the perfect summer birthday episode to get me in the vibes for my own birthday! ๐ Like I said, even though the sexist comments are shot down by Jessie's brilliant comebacks, the guys still seem a little smug in this episode and that's why it's lower on this list! However, like I always say for these themed posts, I rank these episodes based on the
WHOLE episode and not just the "themed" scenes! ๐บ The biggest plotline in this episode isn't Zack's birthday, but Zack's "relationship" with Stacy! So, this episode still doesn't have a
TON of birthday vibes, but they are there and I
LOVE the surprise party scenes! ๐
#8 - Sonny in the Middle (Sonny with a Chance - S1E19)
I haven't seen this series since it first aired! ๐ฒ So, it was fun to get to watch an episode that I hadn't seen in FOREVER! ๐ This series can go both ways for me! I sometimes like it and sometimes find it too weird because I'm not much of a "skits" fan! ๐ฅ The birthday vibes weren't as strong in this episode either, but there was another surprise party! ๐
PLOT: The group throws a surprise party for Nico and Grady! ๐ Sonny gives them the gift of their dreams, a video gaming chair! But, there's only one problem... there's only one chair and two of them! ๐ณ An argument ensues and Sonny gets in the middle of it all! ๐ Zora gets Tawni and Chad to take her to some weird places... I'm really not sure where this storyline was going and don't even remember it enough to tell you about it! ๐
This episode has it's funny moments, but it still gives me weird vibes! ๐ณ Some of the scenes weren't as funny and kind of boring! However, I loved the movie theatre scenes and thought those were the funniest scenes of the episode! ๐ Overall, it was a funny episode, but didn't give off many birthday vibes! ๐

#7 - Paige's Birthday Is Gonna Be Great! (Bizaardvark - S1E19)
Woah! The previous episode is season one's nineteenth episode and this episode is season one's nineteenth episode! ๐คฏ This episode is the complete opposite of all the previous episodes in the fact that it has TOTAL birthday vibes! ๐ The WHOLE episode is about Paige's birthday! ๐ Another surprise party that this time isn't kept as much of a surprise! ๐
PLOT: Frankie tries to turn Paige into a more "realistic" person who doesn't get excited about things because she'll just be disappointed when things don't work out! ๐ณ Paige takes it seriously and decides not to get excited about her birthday! ๐ข Frankie feels she has broken Paige with all of her negative thinking and decides to throw Paige the greatest birthday of all time to show Paige that it's great to get excited about things! ๐ Will Frankie be able to throw the party she promised Paige and get everyone and everything there that Paige wants? ๐
Like I said, this episode is FULL of birthday vibes! ๐ I watched this series for the first time last year and still agree that Berny is the MVP of the series! His scenes with Dirk in this episode were my FAVORTIE scenes! ๐ Besides those random scenes, this episode falls flat a little bit! Definitely not the most funny episode of the series, but still had it's classic Bizzardvark moments! ๐บ Frankie is more of a pessimist and so it was a deep lesson when she learns that Paige's positivity isn't such a bad thing and it's good to look at things in a more positive light! ๐
#6 - Family Ties (Boy Meets World - S7E12)
If you've ever seen Boy Meets World, then I'm sure you've been tuning into Pod Meets World, which is the re-watch podcast that is hosted by the actors who played Shawn, Topanga, and Eric! ๐ค I got really into this series when I was about fourteen and haven't seen it since! ๐บ I just finished watching the first season, but had to skip forward to the last season to watch this birthday episode! ๐ I knew the show would get heavier with the plotlines and also a bit more random with Eric's character, but this episode did surprise me in it's own way! ๐
PLOT: It's Cory and Eric's dad's birthday and Eric takes it upon himself to plan a surprise party for him! ๐ Will getting rid of his sister be apart of the surprise? ๐ณ In the middle of all the party planning, Shawn finds out that the woman he thought was his mom is actually not his biological mother! ๐ฒ This sends him on a downward spiral and leads him to the cemetery to have a talk with his deceased dad! ๐ข
This episode was familiar and not familiar at the same time! ๐บ The first thing I thought was how drastic of a change Eric's character goes through from season one to the last season! He definitely is the comedic character of the group and plays it really well! ๐ One thing I didn't see coming was how annoyed I'd be with Cory's character! ๐ How he made Shawn's situations all about himself is crazy! He definitely made it seem like the world revolved around him in this episode! ๐ The vibes seemed very different in this season, but I do like how this episode tackled a serious issue! Shawn's character stole the episode along with Eric! They were the MVPs of this episode! ๐ I love the final decision Shawn made at the end of the episode, which you'll see in a second! ๐ฅ One more thing, I love how this episode has some Christmas vibes because of all the decorations and Christmas lights! ๐ I LOVE Christmas! ๐
#5 - Party Over Here (Lizzie McGuire - S2E18)
The previous episode gave Christmas vibes, but the beginning of this episode gives me all the FALL feels! ๐ I CAN'T wait for fall time! ๐ This episode is all about Kate's birthday party that everyone has been invited to... even Lizzie, Gordo, and Miranda! ๐
PLOT: Kate's birthday is happening and everyone will be there, just not Lizzie and Miranda because their parents said no! If no parent will be there, then Lizzie and Miranda can't go! โ However, Gordo is given permission to go, but thinks that means his parents trust him and tries to prove the whole episode that he is bad! ๐ This includes telling his parents that he won't go to the party, then goes anyway with Lizzie and Miranda who lie to their parents about where they are! ๐ณ While Lizzie and Miranda are busy scheming their way to Kate's party, Matt and his dad are given the opportunity to be in a commercial! But, when the commercial includes having to face his fear of heights, will Matt's dad face his fear or back out of the commercial? ๐ฌ
This episode is a classic Lizzie McGuire episode that includes all the teenage angst and stereotypes of junior high! ๐ณ I've said this before, but sometimes Lizzie and her friends do seem a bit snobbish and judgmental! โ This episode showed just that when they laugh at Kate's invitation to her party and say they would never go, until they hear that last year she gave out expensive goody bags! All of a sudden, they just HAVE to go! ๐ It does end with them helping out Kate and sympathizing with her, which is a sweet moment! ๐ The Matt scenes with his dad were funny and ones I actually enjoyed watching which is sometimes rare with Matt's storylines! ๐ Overall, this episode ranks right in the middle of this list because it's a feel-good nostalgic episode and shows a deeper side of Kate's character! ๐
#4 - Mazeathon (Flight 29 Down - S1E9)
This series is one I try to watch EVERY summer! ๐ I didn't get around to watching it last summer, but I made sure to watch it this year and guess what? I watched the whole thing in one week last month! ๐๐ YAY! ๐ This series is so nostalgic and makes me emotional every time I re-watch it! ๐ข I literally tear up every time I watch the finale! ๐ง
PLOT: It's officially been a week since Flight 29 went down and everyone is in survival mode! So much so, that the little things are beginning to be forgotten... like birthdays! ๐ข Lex's birthday has come but no one has remembered, except for one person! The person that Daley and Nathan have been following to see what exactly he's up to! ๐ Jackson has been the "loner" of the group since day one and Daley and Nathan begin to judge him for being so mysterious! When they find him building what looks to be a raft, things get serious when he says it's for Lex! No way is Daley letting her little brother sail on a raft! ๐ฆ Will Nathan and Daley realize Jackson is a good guy when they find out that he's the only one that remembered Lex's big day? ๐
I love how one of the biggest lessons in this episode is how assumptions lead to misunderstandings! ๐ Daley and Nathan think that Jackson is different from them in a negative way just because he didn't grow up like they did! โ But, they learn that just because someone grew up in a different environment doesn't mean they are a bad person! ๐ I felt really bad for Lex throughout this whole episode, but thought his idea of building a maze was really creative and fun to watch! ๐ด You'd be A LOT more into this episode if you watched all the previous ones because it's so interesting to watch how far the characters have come just in a week's time! ๐ They really build a special bond and it shows in the very last scene of this episode! ๐
#3 - Not So Suite 16 (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody - S2E10)
I remembered this episode A LOT when I re-watched it for this post! ๐ This episode is another one that is FULL of birthday vibes! ๐ This episode has good messages about friendship and even shows the difficulties of what it's like having divorced parents! ๐ฌ
PLOT: Maddie is having the sweet sixteen of her dreams and can't wait to celebrate with everyone! ๐ Until, a few roadblocks are thrown in her way! โ First, Maddie finds out that London is throwing her sweet sixteen party on the same night! ๐ Then, her brother tells her that he needs braces and her parents can't afford for her party to be at her dream destination anymore! ๐ข Will having her birthday party at a BINGO hall ruin everything or will she learn that it doesn't matter where you have your party as long as the people who care about you are there everything is fine? ๐ London has everything she could ever want at her party, except for the fact that she's the only one not having any fun! ๐ข While all the party planning is underway for two very different sweet sixteens, Cody tries to help Zack find the perfect gift for Maddie! But, can ten dollars and a bus token get Maddie the perfect gift? ๐
This episode has so many plotlines with lessons to explore from each of them! ๐ First off, the fact that Zack is the only one that shows up to Maddie's party and stays there the WHOLE time when no one else is there is true friendship! ๐ *Plays "True Friend" by Hannah Montana* Zack was so sweet throughout this entire episode! ๐ This episode showed a very vulnerable side of London's character by showing how stressed she was from having to run from one hotel suite to the next to be with both of her parents because they couldn't stand to be in the same room with each other! ๐ข #iykyk #divorcedparentsclub ๐ฌ London learns that having everything at your party is nothing when you don't have people there who genuinely want to celebrate with you! ๐ All ends well when the two parties combine and London and Maddie get to celebrate their parties together! ๐ This episode is all about material things not meaning as much as friendship and that's a beautiful lesson! ๐
#2 - My Bitter Sweet 16 It Up (Shake It Up - S3E22)
Iykyk that Shake It Up is one of my ALL-TIME favorite series! ๐ A Disney Channel dance show... I'm there! And I was! Every time a new episode premiered, I was there ready to watch it with my sister Alyssa (Back to Disney)! ๐ This episode has another iconic dance scene and this one includes sparklers! ๐ฒ๐๐
PLOT: CeCe and Rocky have planned to have a joint sweet sixteen party! ๐ Cece wants the best of the best and has a budget bigger than the city of Chicago! ๐ณ Rocky is too busy to plan because she's going through the "birthday treatment" from her mom, which includes new hairstyles and crazy big necklaces! ๐ CeCe is VERY vocal about everything she wants and Rocky isn't vocal at all when the "birthday treatment" goes too far! ๐ Will Cece realize that her demands are too much and will Rocky be honest with her mom about how she feels? ๐ Flynn is given the task by his mom of getting CeCe a meaningful gift for her birthday, but Flynn has no clue what to get her! Ty is having brother problems as well when he feels he doesn't get the same birthday attention as Rocky! ๐ข Will the brothers figure out solutions before their sisters party night? ๐
I always thought this episode was cool because Cece watches a home video of her mom as a sixteen-year-old who is actually Olivia Holt acting as Cece's mom's younger-self! ๐บ Cece learns a good lesson about how material things are not what will make her party special, but it's her mom who makes it special! ๐ Rocky learns how to better communicate with her mom and learns to share her feelings more! ๐ The other storylines were enjoyable to watch, as well! It was sweet seeing Ty and Flynn actually put aside the "tough brother" act and show how much they care about their sisters! ๐ Even Tinka showed the side that actually liked being Cece and Rocky's friend! ๐ Of course, the BEST part of the episode was the dance scene! ๐ Also, the party was actually really cute with all the baby/kid pictures of Cece and Rocky displayed in the room! ๐
#1 - Wizard For A Day (Wizards of Waverly Place - S2E24)
This episode used to be one of my
FAVORITE episodes from this series and that hasn't changed! ๐ There is just something about this episode that I've always loved! ๐ I think it's because Alex and her dad have a sweet bond and it shows
A LOT in this episode and it's also a really funny episode! ๐
PLOT: The Russo kids are all seeing who can give their dad the better birthday gift! ๐ Justin makes a magical pencil sharpener and Max decides to not re-gift the same ceramic cat he gives his dad every year and instead, jumps onto Justin's gift! ๐ Alex is banned from sharing in Justin's gift! So, she decides to give her dad the gift of magical powers for a WHOLE day by giving him Merlin's Hat! ๐ฎ When Jerry doesn't use the hat to it's fullest abilities, Alex decides to take things into her own hands and turns the Sub Station into her dad's favorite childhood hangout, The Astro Belt! โจ๐ Will Alex's gift backfire and create an Alien invasion? ๐ฒ
The Russo family is one of the most realistic families on Disney Channel... minus the fact that they're all wizards! ๐ The dynamic of the gift-giving scenes of the kids all competing to see who could give a better gift was so realistic and funny! ๐ The sibling banter is one of my favorite things about this series! But, another one of my favorite things is how close Alex is with her dad! She even stops herself from wishing away the Astro Belt when she sees how happy her dad is! ๐ This episode is fun because we get to see for the first and last time (except for the movie) the dad have powers! ๐ It was interesting to see their dad being a wizard for a day when he's always the one teaching them how to be better wizards! ๐ The funniest thing about this episode is how far it escalates! I mean, Aliens come down just to get an Astro Belt milkshake and are willing to zap the Russo's if they don't give over the milkshake machine! ๐ There are so many classic WOWP lines in this episode that are filled with sarcasm and humor, which makes all the characters savage and hilarious! ๐
Overall, this episode is my FAVORITE birthday episode on this list because it makes me laugh and is a feel-good episode that I'll continue to watch every year around my own birthday! ๐๐

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Wow! I've been working on this post for so long that I didn't think I'd ever actually finish it! ๐
I had so much fun watching all of these episodes and getting in ALL the birthday vibes because the number-one thing that comes with birthdays is CELEBRATING! ๐ You all know how I feel about celebrating, especially remembering to celebrate YOURSELF, which is what birthdays are ALL about! ๐๐
Which birthday party would you have wanted/wanted to attend out of these ten? ๐
๐ A lowkey birthday with only the people you are really close to there? ๐
๐ A midnight beach club surprise birthday party with all your close friends and coworkers? ๐
๐ A surprise birthday party that is shared with your best friend? ๐ฌ
๐ A not-so-surprise birthday party with a sideways cake, celebrity appearances, and a guy in a horse mask that does magic tricks? ๐
๐ A surprise party with your kids and their friends? ๐
๐ A party with no one there, except your cousin and a bunch of college kids who are wild and make a mess? ๐
๐ A mazeathon on the beach with a group of people that have become like family there with you? ๐
๐ A circus themed party in a hotel? A party in a BINGO hall with the elderly? ๐ด๐ต
๐ A classy joint party with your best friend in an upscale ballroom that is on the top floor overlooking the city? ๐
๐ A magical birthday that takes you to a space-themed milkshake shop? ๐ฆ
I would choose the first one, but the midnight beach club and classy skyscraper parties are cool too! ๐ Which party would you choose and is it the party from your favorite episode on this list? ๐ฅ There were A LOT of surprise parties in these episodes! Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you? ๐
I hope you all enjoyed reading this post! ๐ Thank you to my sisters who helped choose the tv series for this post! ๐
I can't wait to share my next theme with you! ๐
Until then...
Don't forget to celebrate each day because each day is a memory in the making! ๐
