⭐ A Disney Channel Original Movies Lookbook ~ Prom/Formal Edition πŸ’ƒπŸ’“

Let's celebrate this week by celebrating PROM season! πŸ’“πŸŽ‰

In my last post, I shared that this post would start a brand new theme that will be featured for the next few weeks on this blog! πŸ’“ By the banner change and the title of this post, I'm sure you figured out just what that theme is! πŸ’ƒ

Fun fact ~ I didn't go to prom! 😲 I had such an amazing eighth grade formal and new prom wouldn't be the same vibe as that and figured it wasn't worth it to go... and I love that I didn't go. I LOVE breaking the norms! πŸ’“

However, if you've read my post where I ranked my top ten school dance episodes (here), then you know that I LOVE the vibe of school dances on TV series! πŸ’“ I mean, how can you not love seeing all the characters get all dressed up and have a fun time in a decorated gym or venue?!? πŸ’•πŸ’ƒ

So, this post is ALL about the amazing dresses that were featured in some of our favorite nostalgic Disney Channel movies! πŸ’“ They aren't all prom dresses, though! These dresses range from proms, formals, weddings, birthdays... any formal event where the characters got all dressed up! πŸ’ƒ

In my last post, I showed you my brand new outfits ranking format! πŸ’“ That's the same format I'll be using in this post, as well! πŸ’ƒ

So, are you ready to dance the night away?!? I thought so! πŸ’ƒπŸ’“

πŸ’“πŸ’ƒπŸ’“πŸ’ƒπŸ’“πŸ’ƒπŸ’“

RIP GIRLS

Look #1

Silk anything used to remind me of pajamas, but now I think silk dresses and shirts are so cute and classy! πŸ’“ I LOVE this red silk dress! It's classy and fun at the same time! πŸ’ƒ I can't tell if those embellishments on the dress are sparkly hearts, but whatever design they are they add a super cute detail to the dress! πŸ’“ Also, there is some orange at the bottom of the dress that adds another pop of color! πŸ’ƒ Overall, super cute dress that is simple and classy! πŸ’“

Look #2

Another cute silk dress and this one is PURPLE! πŸ’œ I love that this one is a bit longer and has embellished puffy sleeves! I LOVE the cute floral embellishments all over the top of the dress and how the rest of the dress is just plain silk! πŸ’“ The color purple is also super cute! πŸ’œ

WOW! Both of these dress options are super cute! πŸ’“πŸ’ƒ

SAYING YES TO THE RIP GIRLS DRESS...

MY CHOICE

BAD HAIR DAY

Option #1 (the only dress option for this movie)

I... umm... this dress... it's just... umm... Okay. This dress just isn't for me! πŸ’™ The embellished sparkly top is the only thing I like about it! ✯ The tutu layered skirt that is high-low is not working for this dress. It's like it's just there... You can see the dress underneath the layered tutu and I've seen this style work for another dress that you'll see in a different post, but it throws off the whole vibe of this specific dress. πŸ’š The color and sparkly top are the only things I like about this dress.

What about you? Would you say yes to this dress? πŸ’ƒπŸ’“

FRENEMIES

Option #1

This is an interesting dress! πŸ’ƒ It's honestly not too bad. πŸ’— I LOVE how colorful it is. I like high-low dresses, but it depends on how much fabric makes up the train of that style of dress. For example, there is not much fabric for the train of this high-low dress, which makes the fabric that is there look like the dress has a tiny tail of fabric hanging from it, which is a style I'm not a fan of. πŸ’œ So, if this dress didn't have the tail of fabric, then it'd be cuter! πŸ’— I still love the colors, though! There some of my favorite colors... pink, blue, and purple! πŸ’œ Overall, it's a fun party dress! πŸ’ƒ

Option #2

This style isn't my favorite! πŸ’œ I love the rich darker purple shade of the dress, but the puffiness at the bottom starts too low on the dress! I think the fluffy puffy layers should start at the waist of the dress that way they blend better and don't make the dress seem awkward. πŸ’ƒ Again, the color is very classy and simple. πŸ’œ I like the flats and the simplicity of the top half of the dress. I just don't like the puffiness at the bottom of the dress!

MY CHOICE

WENDY WU: HOMECOMING WARRIOR

Option #1 (the only dress option for this movie)

This is a stand-out dress for sure! It's so bright! πŸ’— I don't mean this in a bad way at all, but this dress honestly looks homemade! Again, that is not a bad thing because I know some people do make their own dresses! πŸ’ƒ I think it's cool if it would have shown her character making her own dress! That being said, I'm not a fan of the colors they chose for this dress! πŸ’— I LOVE the PINK, but not the ORANGE! πŸ’› Again, silk is very classy, but it looks strange when the dress is so puffy! I think they should have done a different fabric for a dress this puffy. πŸ’ƒ I do like how some orange fabric is peaking out at the bottom of the dress to match the orange silk belt and top of the dress! πŸ’— Overall, this dress just isn't my favorite, but that's okay. Everyone has their own styles they prefer. Is this dress your style? πŸ’ƒ

ZAPPED

Option #1 (the only dress option for this movie)

You might be thinking that this dress doesn't seem like a formal/prom dress... But, it reminds me of my eighth grade formal dress and my sister's prom dress. So, I see it as a formal dress! πŸ’— My eighth grade formal dress was similar with the length and neckline of this dress. Mine had lace detail instead of a floral design like this one, but it had the same classy and mature vibe that this one has! πŸ’ƒ Mine was also a cream color similar to the main color of this dress! πŸ’› I LOVE how simple and put-together this dress is! πŸ’“ I love the sandals and the flower clip and the pastel floral design is super cute! 🌸 Overall, I LOVE this dress! πŸ’ƒ

COW BELLES

Option #1 (the only dress option for this movie)

The early 2000s knew how to design AMAZING classy silk dresses! πŸ’— I LOVE this dress! πŸ’“ It's so elegant and simple at the same time! I love the color and the silver heals! πŸ’ƒ The cute flower detail at the top of the dress is cute! 🌸 Seriously, this is an adorable dress that gives me ALL the early 2000s vibes! πŸ’—

STEPSISTER FROM PLANET WEIRD

Option #1

I LOVE the lavender shade of this dress! πŸ’œ My younger-self LOVED the color purple and even chose a purple dress for a wedding, just like in this movie! πŸ’œ I love the simplicity of this dress, but it is a little plain and I think it's because the fabric is just plain cotton-type fabric! I think with the silk dresses the shininess of them added something more to the dress. So, when you have a more plain cotton fabric, it can make a dress seem like it's missing something. πŸ’ƒ The design of the top of the dress isn't my favorite because the layered fabric is only in such a little section of the dress. I think the fabric should be a bit longer or just not be there at all. πŸ’œ The only thing I like about the added fabric is the tiny embellishments on it because those are the only details on the dress! πŸ’œ Overall, I LOVE the color of the dress, but the dress itself is missing detail! πŸ’ƒ

Option #2

Okay, now I'm confused! 😬 I said the previous dress needed more detail and now I see this dress, which has more detail, and I'm now thinking I was wrong about the previous dress and prefer the more plain one! πŸ€―πŸ’œ I think it's just the colors throwing me off. I prefer the lighter shade of purple of the previous dress, but I like the details more on this dress! πŸ’œ Complicated. Complicated. If only the details of this dress could be on the previous dress, then it'd be perfect! πŸ’ƒ This dress is still cute, though, as it is. I still love the purple and I like how this one has a pop of pink at the top! πŸ’—

ZENON: THE ZEQUEL

Option #1 (the only dress option for this movie)

Yay! Finally a GREEN dress! πŸ’š Why are green dresses so underrated? I LOVE how sparkly this dress is, but I have a shocking fact about this "dress"... IT'S NOT A DRESS! 😲 I'm not sure if you can tell in the photos, but you can definitely tell in the actual scenes when you watch the movie that this is a top that blends really well with the skirt to make the outfit look like a dress! πŸ’š I just am so happy that we finally get to see a GREEN "dress" and it's all sparkly and cute! πŸ’š The only tiny thing I don't like about this "dress" is that the neckline is very high and seems a little awkward... but, it's not that big of a deal! Overall, I LOVE this "dress"! πŸ’“

THE LIZZIE MCGUIRE MOVIE

Option #1

Okay. Imagine this... You show up to prom in this AMAZING silver and lace dress! You walk through the doors of the school/venue and all of a sudden... your dress transforms into this...

HOW ICONIC WOULD THAT BE?!? ❤ I've LOVED both versions of this outfit ever since I first saw this movie! I mean, how can you not love it? πŸ’“ I never noticed that the dress part of the outfit is lace and it's beautiful! πŸ’ƒ Also, if you look at the pictures on the right of the second collage, then you can see that when she moves her legs, the flare part of the pants turns into lace! How flippin' cool! ❤ This would be such an iconic outfit to wear to a formal dance! πŸ’ƒ There isn't one thing I dislike about either styles of this outfit! Both versions are AMAZING! ❤ As a kid, I did prefer the pants version, though. But, as an adult, I actually really LOVE the dress version! That lace bottom is just magnificent! ❤ Which version do you prefer? πŸ’ƒ

Option #2

GREEN. GREEN. GREEN. Yes. πŸ’š I LOVE this outfit and yes, I know it's not a dress! But, I just had to include it! πŸ’ƒ I LOVE the green leather jacket and the skirt with the green train trailing behind it! πŸ’š The train of the skirt has some shiny detail on it that adds even more flare to the outfit! I just love how bright and "out-there" this outfit is! πŸ’š It's so unique and would definitely be iconic if worn as a prom/formal dress! πŸ’ƒ Would you wear this to prom? If I were seventeen and brave enough, then yes. I would so wear this to be different and unique! πŸ’š

P.S. You can be unique and different without dressing different than everyone else. It is about confidence and you are still unique even if you don't dress in over-the-top outfits! πŸ’š

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL

Option #1 (the only dress option for this movie)

I know. I know. We ALL love this dress! So, really... what can I say that we ALL already don't know? πŸ’“ We're all in this together when it comes to loving this dress... πŸ˜‰ I just had to add that! πŸ’“πŸ’ƒ Seriously, though, I LOVE this dress! It's so simple, but so cute! πŸ’“ I LOVE the little design on the top of the dress and the heals are so classy and perfect with this dress! πŸ’ƒ There is nothing bad about this dress! It's super cute and the perfect simple dress to wear to a formal dance! πŸ’“

TEEN BEACH MOVIE 2

Option #1 (the only dress option for this movie)

I have mixed feelings about this dress. I like that it's pink. πŸ’— I know my sister doesn't like the one shoulder style, but I actually think it's cute and I like how it has little pearls or jewels on the shoulder! πŸ’• The things that I have mixed feelings about are the ruffled layers. I love the white outline of the layers because pink and white are classic together! However, with how short the dress is, the layers make it seem really puffy! πŸ’ƒ I like the heals and the cuff that is on her upper arm! πŸ’— Overall, this isn't a bad dress at all! I do like it, but not as much as some of the others! πŸ’•

ZOMBIES 2

Option #1 (the only dress option for this movie)

I LOVE the shade of BLUE that this dress is! LOVE it! πŸ’™ This dress is actually super cute and elegant! I love the princess ball gown vibe and how it doesn't go all the way down to the floor! πŸ’ƒ I love the shiny polka-dots on the top half of the dress! The only thing I'm not sure if I like or not is how the fabric is uneven where the polka-dots end! πŸ’™ But, the uneven line of fabric makes it unique and perfect for the vibe of the movie Zombies 2! It's as if Addison is like, "I don't need to be perfect and neither does my dress. So, here is an uneven line of fabric to prove that something imperfect can still be beautiful." πŸ’™ I love her silver heals, as well! Overall, this dress is very cute and the color is perfect! πŸ’™

GEEK CHARMING

Option #1 (the only dress option for this movie)

This dress is cute and girly! πŸ’— For some reason, I remembered this dress being a shorter one, but when I screenshotted it for this post I found out it's actually long! I prefer it long and flowy because it adds to the whimsical vibe of the dress! πŸ’Ÿ I see this dress being the perfect thing to wear for a girly tea party and is totally giving off fairy dress vibes! 🌸 I LOVE the color and the layers! At first, I wasn't the biggest fan of the embroidery, which I think is supposed to be a type of floral design. However, I actually like it now and think it adds a lot to the dress! πŸ’— Overall, this is a really cute dress! πŸ’Ÿ

STARSTRUCK

Option #1

If you know just how much I LOVE the movie StarStruck, then you know that I LOVE this dress! πŸ’— This is another girly dress that is super duper cute! 🌸 I LOVE the colors and floral design of the dress! I LOVE the cute bow at the top of the dress! I LOVE the length and layers of the dress! πŸ’“ If you didn't already know, I LOVE this dress! πŸ’—

Option #2

This dress is a WHOLE vibe! πŸ’™ It reminds me of something you'd wear to prom in the 80s or 90s! πŸ’™ I actually LOVE this dress! It seriously is a vibe that I'm here for! πŸ’™ If you know me, then you know that I LOVE the 80s and I would have so worn this to prom if I was in high school in the 80s! πŸ’™ The metallic look of the dress. The off-the-shoulder puffy sleeves. The blue bow. The heals that match. It's ALL such a vibe! πŸ’™ Would you wear this dress? Absolutely!

This was a touch decision because I seriously LOVE both dress options! However, I chose based off of what looked more comfortable...

MY CHOICE

PRINCESS PROTECTION PROGRAM

Option #1

I know that this is a a little "out-there" for a formal dress because it's a full-on princess gown! However, I still wanted to include this dress and the next one to ask you which one you like better. πŸ’› So, this is the coronation dress that Rosie wears at the beginning of the movie and the next one is the new version of the dress that she wore to her actual coronation! πŸ‘‘ I'm going to go ahead and show you the second option, then share what I love about each option and which one is my favorite of the two! πŸ’›

Option #2

Out of the two options, I love how bright the first one is! πŸ’› However, I do LOVE the brown/cream color of the top of the second option! I love the style of the top of the second option more than the first, even though the top of the first option is really cute too! πŸ’› It's really tough deciding which bottom half of each dress I like better! Each bottom half of the dresses match the tops of the dresses! So, since I like the top half of option two better, I think I automatically like the bottom half of option two better, as well! πŸ‘‘ So, overall, I choose coronation dress number two! πŸ’›

Would I wear any of these to prom, though? Probably not, unless it was a princess themed prom! πŸ’› Would you wear any of these first two options to prom? πŸ’ƒ

Option #3

This is the first dress Carter chose for the dance and as a kid, I LOVED this dress! πŸ’“ Out of the two options, which you'll see the one she actually wore to the dance in a minute, I always preferred this one versus the second one! πŸ’— However, I actually prefer the second one now that I'm older! πŸ’— I still LOVE this one, though! In the second and third photos, you can see that the layers between the blue are a light pink, even though they look white in the other photos! That's the only thing I dislike about the dress and think it would have looked way cuter with white layers! πŸ’“ For some reason, these shades of pink and blue together remind me of baby shower colors! So, if the layers would have been white and blue, I would love this dress way more! πŸ’™

Option #4

How did I not like this dress when I was a kid? πŸ’™ I LOVE this dress! It's stunning! πŸ’“ I LOVE the blue silk. I LOVE the style of the top of the dress with just the two simple straps and straight neckline. The back of the dress is AMAZING! The silk cream/white gloves are an added detail that adds to the elegance of the dress! I LOVE the layers of the dress, as well, because the cascading twirls of blue silk are so pretty! πŸ’™ Overall, this is my FAVORITE dress of Carter's! Which Carter dress is your favorite? πŸ’™

Option #5

This is Rosie's first dress option and I never noticed how it's silk! πŸ’“ I am becoming a big fan of silk dresses! πŸ’› They're just so classy and fun! πŸ’“ I LOVE the color of this dress and the overall style of it! πŸ’“ It's a pretty simple dress, which works because silk dresses don't have to have all of the embroidery and embellishments to make them cute! πŸ’ƒ Overall, there isn't too much to say about this dress, since there isn't too much going on! It's cute and elegant! πŸ’“

Option #6

I do really love this dress, but it reminds me of a wedding dress! πŸ‘° I've never been the biggest fan of mermaid style dresses, but this one is actually very pretty! πŸ’“ I LOVE the color, even if that's the main reason it looks like a wedding dress, and I love how this one is different than Rosie's first option because it's longer and not silk! πŸ’ƒ I think it's the layers of fabric that make the mermaid style not as bad to me! Honestly, this dress is super cute and I love how it's a different style than what a lot of the previous dresses were! πŸ’“ Out of the two options for Rosie's dresses, I pick this one! What about you? πŸ’ƒ

SHARPAY'S FABULOUS ADVENTURE

Option #1

You know what... this is the FIRST yellow dress of the evening! πŸ’› I LOVE the color yellow! It's so bright and fun! 🌞 This dress is cute, but I'm not the biggest fan of the angle of it. If you can't tell, one side of the dress looks angled weird. The scrunched fabric at the top of the dress angles into a sash-type style and makes the dress seem angled different. πŸ’ƒ I'm not sure if I'm the only one seeing this, though! 😲 I might just be seeing things, but the dress definitely looks cut at an angle. πŸ’› The rhinestones are cute because they add a shiny detail to the dress and the belt is a nice touch, as well! πŸ’› This isn't my favorite dress, but it isn't bad! I mostly just LOVE the color of it! πŸ’›

Option #2

I LOVE how this dress is red! πŸ’“ I also LOVE that it's high-low, but not so low that the train touches the ground! πŸ’ƒ I LOVE how it's sparkly all over! πŸ’“ The thing I don't love is the huge bow on one of her shoulders! It's gigantic! πŸ’“ Overall, this dress is fun and cute! It's definitely a brighter shade of red and with that huge bow you're sure to stand-out amongst a crowd! πŸ’“

READ IT AND WEEP

Option #1 (the only dress option for this movie)

(without the jacket)

(with the jacket)

I have ALWAYS loved this dress! πŸ’— It is sooooooo soooooo soooooo pretty! πŸ’Ÿ I LOVE how sparkly it is and how the sparkles fall in lines down the dress! πŸ’— I LOVE the colors of the dress and the style of it! πŸ’Ÿ I even LOVE the pink jacket with the dress, even though it's random and doesn't match the actual dress colors, it's super cute! πŸ’— Do you like the jacket with the dress? πŸ’ƒ There honestly isn't anything I dislike about this dress! I would for sure pick this out if I was going to a school dance! πŸ’Ÿ

HOW TO BUILD A BETTER BOY

Option #1

Now, as you can see, this is a VERY unique dress! πŸ’œ The pattern of the dress is mathematical equations... πŸ€―πŸ’œ It's PERFECT for Gabby's character, but it isn't a dress I'd personally wear because I STRONGLY dislike math equations! πŸ’œ I love how they created a one-of-a-kind dress for her character, though! I LOVE the pop of color with the vibrant shiny purple sleeves! The only thing that doesn't match is the random under-layer of yellow at the bottom of the dress. It's random. πŸ’œ Overall, I love the vibe of this dress and how unique it is! πŸ’ƒ

Option #2

This dress was made perfectly for this dance's theme of a night in Paris... what a cute theme! πŸ’— I LOVE this dress! πŸ’“ I LOVE the mesh top that has sparkles all over it! Yes. Yes. Yes. πŸ’— Also, the mesh sleeves have sparkles, as well! The dress has a silky shimmer to it that is so cute! πŸ’“ I LOVE the floral print design and how they incorporated Mae's signature fashion detail of polka-dots! Again, I LOVE how the designers incorporated details in these dresses that represent the characters so well! πŸ’™ This dress is so unique and pretty and is definitely giving off fairy dress vibes and PARIS vibes! πŸ’—

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR

Option #1

Okay, the High School Musical 3 prom dresses in general were wayyy different than I was expecting them to be as a kid! πŸ’— I've never been the biggest fan of any of these dresses! 😲 For instance, this reminds me of a ballerina costume, which isn't ugly whatsoever, but it doesn't scream PROM! πŸ’— I love the color of the dress and the lace design. But, it seriously looks like a dance costume and not a prom dress. Anyone else? πŸ’• I think it's cute, but not my favorite style!

Option #2

This prom dress is PERFECT for Taylor's character, but I'm not a fan of it. πŸ’œ The checkered print is too much for me, but again, it fits Taylor's character perfectly! πŸ’œ Honestly, I don't know what to say about this dress other than the fact that I don't like it. It's unique, though, I'll give it that! πŸ’œ

Option #3

Again, this dress isn't my favorite either! πŸ’— I LOVE the hot PINK color of it and that it's silk. πŸ’Ÿ I don't like the fringe or the high-low design. It doesn't work for this dress. πŸ’— I like the sparkly belt and the long gloves that match the color of the dress! πŸ’— But, again, this dress isn't for me. Truly, the best thing in those photos is the cute little puppy she is holding up! πŸΆπŸ’Ÿ

Option #4

Okay, so this dress has actually grown on me! πŸ’“ I used to not like it, but now I do. I love the simple white/cream color of the dress. The layered roses all over the dress are actually cute and unique! 🌹 The feathered fabric that is all over the dress adds a fun look, even though it looks like the roses are growing feathers! πŸ’“ The heals and the light pink silk belt are cute! This honestly is a flirty dress that looks sassy and sweet at the same time! πŸ’— Not my favorite, but not too bad. πŸ’ƒ

So, there are promo-shoot photos for High School Musical 3 that show all the characters dressed-up differently for prom! πŸ’— Most of the dresses are wayyyy better than the ones in the movie. Let's see if you agree...

Option #5

So, I did LOVE the color and lace of Kelsey's original dress. πŸ’“ However, this one looks way more like a prom dress than the ballerina one! πŸ’— It still isn't my favorite, but I do like the teal color and overall simplicity of the dress! πŸ’“ Which Kelsey dress is your favorite?

Option #6

So, Taylor had two different dress option for the promo photos, but I think the black/brown one was actually her graduation dress! πŸ’œ Out of the two pictured, I do like the light pink/purple one the best. πŸ’— It's still not my favorite, but I do like it more than the checkered print one! πŸ’œ It is kind of plain, but it's still cute in a simple sort of way! πŸ’—

Option #7

Yes. Yes. Yes. πŸ’“ Now this is a Sharpay Evans prom dress! πŸ’— I LOVE the color and the sparkles that fall in lines down the dress... just like the Read It and Weep dress that I LOVE! πŸ’“ I love the style of the dress and how it semi-flares at the bottom with a different type of fabric that is hot pink! πŸ’— The cut-out at the very top of the dress adds a unique detail! Honestly, this is wayyy better than her original dress! πŸ’— Do you agree?

Option #8

This reminds me a lot of my oldest sister's eighth grade formal dress because hers was the same colors, just more black than white. ❤ This dress is very formal and classy. ❤ It's a very different vibe than her original dress! I LOVE how this one is more put together and there isn't all of this different fabric all over the dress! ❤ The black bow in the back is cute! I LOVE how this one is more laid-back and chill because it's not so "out-there". ❤ However, I actually think I prefer Gabriella's original dress because I like the colors of that one more! What about you? ❤
