π Ranking Ten Nostalgic Back To School Episodes ~ Disney Channel & More ππ
Let's celebrate this week by celebrating back to school season... Ha! I know... I know... for most people it's not a celebration! β Thankfully, back to school season isn't a season I have to experience EVER again! Can I get a halleluiah? HALLELUIAH!!! π But, if you aren't looking forward to a new school year, one thing you can look forward to is getting to watch so many AMAZING back to school episodes that will give you all the GOOD back to school vibes! ππ
For all of my themed episodes posts, I use a random list generator to choose which ten episodes I'll rank! π» So, these ten nostalgic back to school episodes are randomly chosen, but this list is actually VERY good and I enjoyed watching EVERY episode! πΊ
So, what are we waiting for? π Put away your homework and let's get this party started! ππ
πππππππππππ
(from least to most favorite)
#10 - The Suite Life Sets Sail (The Suite Life on Deck - S1E1)
I was surprised at how much I actually enjoyed watching this episode because as I've gotten older, this series hasn't been one I enjoy watching a lot of! πΊ The characters can be super judgmental most of the time, but they weren't too bad in this premiere episode! π I was actually laughing throughout this WHOLE episode, except at a few comments here and there! π’
PLOT: Seven Seas High is a brand new sea school that Zack and Cody are attending along with London and some new faces! π’ Mr. Moseby is shocked to see the boys on the S.S. Tipton and isn't the most thrilled to know that Zack and Cody will be attending the new sea school! ππ That isn't the only shocking discovery! π² What will happen when Zack finds out that his new roommate is actually a girl?!? π³ How will Cody survive a whole school year with a messy roommate? And how will London react to having to go to a school she didn't want to attend in the first place? π’ The first day of sea school is underway, but not everyone is on board with the idea! π
This episode is the first of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody spin-off and it's so much fun to see a whole NEW set and concept! π The sea school is a brilliant idea and the new characters add a different vibe to the series! π’ The reason why it's last is because of a few comments London makes throughout the episode and comments from the boys about bodily fluids and umm... gas... that I never find to be funny jokes! π I liked how Zack showed a more sentimental side with not wanting to have his mom leave and it was sweet how he stuck up for Bailey at the end of the episode! π
Overall, even though this episode is last, it's still one I'd watch again! πΊ It's funny and has a lot of storylines throughout the episode to where you never get bored with what's going on! π
#9 - Fire It Up (Shake It Up - S3E1)
Usually, Shake It Up would never be ranked this low! β However, this episode gives off the least back to school vibes out of the all the others on this list! π The first day/week of school is mentioned a few times throughout the episode, but it actually only shows the characters at school once in this episode! π« It's mainly about Shake It Up: Chicago burning down and all the chaos that goes with that! π₯
PLOT: CeCe and Rocky are excited to be back at Shake It Up: Chicago after their trip to Japan, but they find things not how they left them upon returning! π³ The studio has burned down and CeCe thinks she did it! π² Rocky covers up for CeCe and creates a habit of lying when she finds some thrill in the craziness happening! β³ But, how long can they hide the truth? And is the truth what they think it is? π€ Gary Wilde is out of a job due to the studio situation, so Deuce hires him at Crusty's! π But, what will happen when Gary Wilde doesn't understand that being a host at Crusty's is COMPLETELY different than being a host for Shake It Up: Chicago? π€ Tinka is being extra kind to Cece and Rocky much to their confusion! π Will they find out why Tinka is baking them cupcakes and taking the blame for CeCe's mistakes? π§ This episode is sure to get you fired up! π₯
Again, this episode would rank A LOT higher if it had more back to school moments in it! π As you can see from the plot, this episode has A LOT going on and I didn't even mention EVERY storyline! π² There was a fun "light show" type dance number by a dance crew I forgot the name of... oopsies! Also, there was a very TINY dance scene with Rocky and CeCe that was inspired by the "Thriller" dance because this episode did premiere during Monstober! π» This episode introduces a new love interest for CeCe's mom, which begins a major plotline that runs throughout the first half of the season! π I get why they introduced a love interest for the mom, but it doesn't end up going anywhere! So, I sort of wish they would have given another character a big plotline! But, it's still fun to watch the mom get all giddy for a fireman and act like a teenager! π
All in all, this episode was a good season opener and it did give me tiny Monstober vibes, which I am SO SO ready for!! π
As you can tell by the title, this episode is FULL of back to school moments! π The reason it ranked higher than SIU and H2O, which usually wouldn't happen, is because this episode is ALL about back to school time and has some really good emotional scenes that deal with a topic I'm sure A LOT of people can relate to! π
#6 - The Party (Unfabulous - S1E1)
This episode gives off so many middle school vibes that it's CRAZY! π One thing I don't want to remember is middle school... yikes! π¬ However, this series reminds me of the good times of those years because I watched this series so much throughout those years! πΊ The flip-phones, plaid shorts/skirts, middle school crushes, frustrations with school schedules... this has ALL the middle school vibes! π
PLOT: Addie can't wait for the first day of school because she thinks she's "new and improved" and has a more positive mindset for the new school year! π
All in all, this episode is so flippin' nostalgic and one that gives off so many early 2000s back to school feels! π Also, the song "New Shoes" was my jam when I was a kid! π
(Sneak Peek)
#5 - Summer Love (Good Morning Miss Bliss - S1E1)
I really wish they had more seasons of the early years of Zack, Lisa, Nikki, Screech, and Mikey! π Miss Bliss's storylines work really well when Zack and the gang are this young and in Junior High! I get that Saved By The Bell was purely a TV series through the eyes of teenagers, which is really cool and why I think Good Morning Miss Bliss deserved more seasons before the teenage days! πΊ That's why this episode ranks in the top five is because of the moments between Zack and Miss Bliss that are super sweet! π
PLOT: It's the first day back at school and Zack can't wait to tell the rest of the gang about his summer love! π Everything is going great, until his summer love actually turns out to be a new student at school! π³ He told Karen (his summer crush) that he was in the 9th grade, like her! But, he's actually a year younger! π² Will Zack continue to build this new relationship on lies or get caught in the process? β Miss Bliss is trying to have a better work/life balance and decides to not go to a school function and have a date at her house instead! πΉ But, what will happen on her date when one of her students turns up at her back door for advice on heartbreaks? ππ
The thing I LOVE about Zack and Miss Bliss's relationship is that Miss Bliss is genuinely interested in her students lives and truly takes their feelings on things seriously! π When it comes to Zack, he begins to apologize for even bringing his problems to Miss Bliss because he mentions that her husband passed away and there he is feeling sorry for himself! π’ However, Miss Bliss tells him not to apologize and says that just because he's in Junior High doesn't mean he can't feel heartbreak in his own way! She makes his emotions feel like they matter and I LOVE how she handles the whole situation! π Sure, maybe it's not realistic for a student to show up at their teacher's doorstep and have a nice conversation, but it works for this episode and series! π'
Overall, we get to see the students and teachers perspectives on back to school season in this episode, which is super unique! π Zack's shenanigans begin here and I LOVED getting to see his OG friends in this episode who I wish could have been in Saved By The Bell, as well! π’ Miss Bliss is a teacher we all would have loved to have as a mentor in school! π This episode is filled with sweet moments and heartfelt lessons! π

#4 - Future Tutor (Phil of the Future - S1E10)
It's very interesting how they premiered the Phil of the Future episodes because this one is known as the tenth episode, but it should be one of the firsts because this is when Phil meets Keely for the first time! π I am always so curious as to what I'm getting myself into when playing a Phil of the Future episode because some of them can be... interesting! π However, out of nowhere, I've become a fan of this series from all of the themed posts I've done! π² So far, the themed episodes I've watched have been so calming and just peaceful to watch and this one was no different! π
PLOT: Phil and Pim are stuck in the 21st century, which means they have to go to school, until their parents can get all of them back to the future! π Phil is joining the ninth grade class and Pim is the new seventh grader! π Pim finds herself in an election with a girl named Debbie and Phil finds himself put into a clique! π Will Pim win the election? And will Phil break down High School clichΓ©s and destroy the idea of cliques altogether? π³
At first, I didn't like how Keely and Tia treated Phil, but once I found out that Keely felt trapped in her own clique and was just trying to survive High School, then I started to understand where the episode was going! πΊ I LOVE how Keely breaks down a clique barrier and sits with Phil at lunch and how Tia joins her! π This is where Keely and Phil's friendship begins and I LOVE it! π Pim's rivalry with Debbie starts right off the bat and it adds a comedic element to the episode! It's funny how Debbie's character is so unbothered by Pim's anger and how it just makes Pim more angry! π Let's all try to be a little more like Debbie! LOL! π
All in all, this episode didn't have any scenes that freaked me out and was just a relaxing back to school episode filled with good lessons! ππ

#3 - Me and Rico Down By The School Yard (Hannah Montana - S2E1)
This episode has never been one of my favorites, but it's actually growing on me now! π My sister Alyssa (Back to Disney) LOVES this episode! π§ The beginning of this episode immediately starts off with a bang and instantly brought me back to when I was a kid and watched this for the first time! πΊ How excited were you when you heard the Disney Channel commercial dude announce that Hannah Montana's second season was coming up next?!? π Ahhhhhh! π
PLOT: Miley, Lilly, and Oliver are starting their first day of High School! π² Miley can't wait to see what High School is like, until she gets an anonymous text saying that someone knows her secret! π³ With the help of Lilly and Oliver, will Miley be able to figure out who the anonymous texter is? β³ Jackson is being followed around by the new guy in school and joins his friends in making fun of the new "country hick." βπ But, with a talk from his dad, will Jackson realize that he was once new too and help out the new kid? π
The reason why I never liked this episode much was because of Jackson's storyline! I never thought it was funny how him and his friends made fun of the new student, but there is a big lesson that is taught to Jackson and he actually sticks up for the new guy in the end! π Again, if kids are watching this episode, which I know we ALL did when we were kids, I'm glad we watched an episode that stood up against bullying and showed Jackson even become friends with the new guy! π Miley, Lilly, and Oliver's scenes were funny and a classic Hannah Montana storyline of her secret almost getting out! π€
Overall, this episode is really growing on me and the beginning is my FAVORITE scene because Hannah's speech made me feel as if I was going to school tomorrow! I was really brought back to my childhood angst of the night before the first day of school! π³ Also, get ready to watch the FIRST concert clip of season two! WOOHOO!! ππ

#2 - A Weak First Week (Even Stevens - S1E21)
There is SO much that I need to talk about for this episode! Starting off with some theories as to where this episode came from! π
So, I don't know if anyone else has talked about this, but this episode is VERY interesting because I think it includes the "test-screening" scenes they did before they even filmed the first official episode of the series! I think some of the scenes in this episode are some of the VERY first ones that were ever filmed! π² Here's my evidence...
π This episode starts off with Louis and Ren getting trapped on a Ferris Wheel type ride, which leads them into discussing how Louis ruined Ren's first week of school when he started Junior High! π‘ In the Ferris Wheel scenes, you can clearly see that they are wayyyy older than in the flashback scenes and Ren doesn't even have her braces on yet during the flashbacks, which they wouldn't have taken off just for the sake of filming the flashback scenes! π₯
π Now, here is where my theory gets even better! π Do you remember when I said I've gotten really good at knowing when a scene has been voiced-over? You do? Great! Because, almost ALL of the flashback scenes seem like they've been voiced-over and do you want to know why? Well, if you look really closely, I don't think they had the name "Stevens" chosen yet because there are times when they go to say "Ren Stevens," but you can clearly see that they are saying a completely different name! π² Here is an example...
π Did you see that? Larry said a completely different name! π€― One more thing to support my theory is the fact that Twitty isn't in this episode! They must have added his character into the mix after these "test-screening" scenes! π
So, after all of that evidence, do you think I'm right? Do you think these scenes weren't ever going to be shown and were just the "test-screening" scenes? How cool that they decided to add them into an episode! π
Okay. I know that was A LOT of information! π³ So, let's get back to our regular scheduled programming as you digest all of that information! π¬
PLOT: Louis and Ren reminisce about their first week of school and how Louis almost ruined Ren's runnings in the school election! π Louis's first week of school is full of trying to fit-in and trying to find his own place in Junior High without trying to be in his siblings shadows! π’ Ren's first week back at school is all about winning the election against Larry Biel who will stop at nothing to beat her! π¬ Will Louis make some new friends and find his own place in Junior High? And will Ren win the election? πΊ
Again, this episode is so cool because I truly think my theories are right when it comes to the flashback scenes! π How cool is it to see the characters so flippin' young?!? π Louis is so little in this episode, which makes you feel so sad for him when no one is understanding how he's feeling about trying to fit-in! π’ I LOVE how Tom is in this episode because I didn't know if he would be since Twitty's character wasn't! π Also, the flagpole scene that is mentioned in the finale episode of the series is shown in the flashback scenes and we would have NEVER gotten to see the first time Tawny and Louis met if it wasn't for them deciding to make this episode! π It made the mentioning of that scene in the finale episode so much more special and sweet! π
All in all, this episode had it's classic hilarious Louis moments and even had a sweet ending of Louis helping out Ren with the election! π I didn't get bored with any scene in this episode and will forever think it was a brilliant idea to create an episode that flashbacked to scenes that were never-to-be-seen scenes! π

#1 - Be Careful What You Wish For (Taina - S1E1)
This episode is SUCH a vibe! π It is mainly number one because it has so many music scenes, which are my FAVORITES, but it also has A LOT of funny moments! π€ Also, it's fun to see a different school setting because Taina attends a performance arts school, which was my dream as a kid! β
PLOT: It's Taina and Renee's first day attending a performance arts school and let's just say, they have stars in their eyes, especially Taina! β But, Taina will learn that there is A LOT more to becoming a star than she thinks! Be careful what you wish for! β Lamar isn't looking forward to having to be in a ballet dance class, but he can't be behind the camera all the time! π₯ Daniel is trying his best to be friends with his new locker-mate Taina, but her bad mood is spreading to her manners! π¬ Will everyone survive this new school that proves to throw them into unfamiliar situations? πΊ
Again, ALL of the music moments in this episode are SO good! π Seriously, the ending scene alone ranks this episode as number one! π΅ I LOVE the Latin vibe of this series and it comes through strong throughout this first episode! π How they talk and their mannerisms throughout this episode remind me of where I grew up and of my OG school friends! π I love the family scenes in this episode and how everyone offered to stick up for Taina when she told them that a teacher told her that she wasn't talented! π
Overall, this episode passes the vibe check! βπ Who else wanted to go to a performing arts school when they were kids? Step Up is the movie that inspired me to want to attend one! π

One thing I'm taking away from this post is that MAN, I'm glad I don't have to go to school anymore! π
These episodes were A LOT of fun to watch and had me reminiscing on my back to school days! π If you could choose, which school would you have wanted to attend as a kid/teen? π« Of course, my choice is the performing arts school, but if I wasn't afraid of boats, then Seven Seas High wouldn't be a bad choice either! As long as my family got to live on the boat, as well! π #notseasickbuthomesick
Wait! I change my answer to going to school in Australia! Who needs to be a star when you can be Australian?!? π
Which episodes from this list are you interested in watching more of? πΊ I wanted to change up how I do these themed posts and decided to not show so much of the actual episodes and to just show sneak peek clips like we used to see on commercial breaks as kids! π
If you've already gone or are going back to school soon, I hope you have an AMAZING school year and a safe one! π
I can't wait to share another school themed post with you next weekend! π
But...
Until then...
Don't forget to celebrate each day because each day is a memory in the making! π
