โญ A Special Message From My Heart To Yours This Holiday Season ~ Celebrate Good Times ๐
Let's celebrate this week and season by remembering to celebrate all year round! ๐
This season can bring a lot of emotions... cheerful, sad, joyful, sorrowful, melancholy, merry, and one I'm sure a lot of people have felt... bittersweet!
As a kid, I waited and waited for Christmas to come back around! I LOVED everything about Christmas! There weren't any feelings of unhappiness or anxiety even. I never felt rushed to hurry and soak up as much holiday spirit as I possibly could, but instead immersed myself in the wonder of the season without overthinking it.... because what was there to overthink... it was Christmas!
As I've grown older, Christmas has become something totally different in my eyes, but in a way, something more wonderful and magical than any other way I ever thought about it before.
To me, the true meaning of Christmas is how amazing it is that God gave the world the best gift we could ever ask for... Jesus. On that first Christmas night, before Christmas was even named what it is, there weren't any twinkling lights, decorated trees, presents wrapped with bows, or stockings filled with candy. There was a humble stable filled with animals and three people who I wonder even knew they'd be celebrated for generations. There were gifts given that weren't asked for. A gathering for the ultimate celebration!
I love twinkling lights. I love decorating my Christmas tree. I love wrapping gifts for my family and even opening the ones they've wrapped for me. But, what I love more is the fact that even if there weren't any lights or any tree or any wrapped presents, there would still be the gift that was delivered by Mary all those nights ago. There would still be Jesus. And there would still be the best things you can't buy... family! ๐
You see, what I've come to realize is that we try to stuff so much into twenty-five days. We try to make twenty-five days of December the most cheerful, the most joyful, the most wonderful days of the year. But, isn't that putting a lot on ourselves? What if we feel sad or sorrowful? What if we get angry or mad at something one day? What if we don't feel like watching all of the Christmas movies we watch every year? What if we don't feel like decorating our tree because maybe someone we usually decorate with isn't with us this year? Are we supposed to hide our emotions because it's Christmastime?
No. We aren't. This season isn't about trying to make one month of the year the BEST month ever... because that's impossible. You can feel sad this season and happy at the same time. It won't stop being Christmas just because you're not joyful all the time because Christmas brings all kinds of emotions. Think back to all the emotions Mary and Joseph must have felt when leaving their homes and traveling to Bethlehem. Mary left all that she knew to follow a path that she still didn't fully understand all while knowing she was carrying the savior of the world. ๐
Christmas is something we can carry with us all year round, not just for twenty-five days. Just like we find the magic in twinkling lights and bells ringing, we can find that same magic in so many other things during every season! ๐
So, if this December doesn't feel as magical as all the rest, just know that that's okay. And if it is overwhelmingly joyful, then that's amazing too! Life is all about feeling every emotion immensely and letting those emotions teach us, even during Christmastime.
So, if you aren't "feeling" Christmas this year, or even if you are, just know that Christmas isn't a one-time feeling. Happiness and joy can be found throughout the whole year. ๐
I've sensed a certain freedom this Christmas with allowing myself to feel every emotion. To not "force" a feeling I wasn't feeling. To simply live in a childlike mindset that didn't overthink so much. And my goal is to live like that all year round. To celebrate everyday and not just twenty-five. ๐
I hope you all have had an amazing holiday season filled with joyful emotions and love around you to help you through the bittersweet ones!
Christmas is a special time of year and it teaches us to celebrate the things that really matter and to take that lesson with us throughout the whole year! ๐
I know this was a different post than usual, but I just wanted to share what was on my heart this month! ๐ As always, don't forget to celebrate each day because each day is a memory in the making!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!!
