๐ŸŽƒ Ranking ALL the Spooktacular Movies I've Seen This October ~ MONSTOBER & More ๐Ÿ‘ป

Let's celebrate this week by celebrating today's spooktacular end to October! Tonight, I'm going to be ranking ALL of the MONSTOBER movies I've watched this month along with two others that aren't Disney Channel Original Movies! I only have until midnight tonight to get this up for it to be posted on the last night of October. So, let's do this! Forty minutes... we got this!!

*Small note before we begin: I wasn't going to watch any witchy movies this year because I haven't seen them since I stopped watching anything that had to do with witchcraft/magic. However, I watched them this year purely for nostalgic reasons. So, I just want to make a point that I don't support anything that has to do with witchcraft and I was able to watch these movies because I could overlook anything "dark" or "sinister" and focus on the good characters and not the bad. Okay, with that being said... let's get this midnight post underway!

๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŽƒ

(from least to most favorite)

#14 - Can of Worms (1999)

So, this movie is last on this list because I know that I'm never going to watch it again. I know... that's a little harsh. But, trust me, "never say never" doesn't apply when talking about this movie! It was just too weird for my liking due to the creepy "worms" that kept popping up everywhere. I liked the 1999 vibe to it, since that was the year I was born. However, it was strange and not in a "strange that I kind of like it" sort of way. I don't regret watching it, but like I said before, I don't plan on watching it again. This clip is a vibe, though โ†“

#13 - Casper (1995)

I'm sad that this movie doesn't rank higher on this list because I love Casper... but I hated the "uncles" and a couple of the other characters. I know hate is a strong word... but man were those other "ghosts" annoying!! Could this movie not have just had Casper and Kat in it?!? If that would have been the case, then I would have LOVED this movie! But, due to the cuss words and some inappropriate comments made by the "ghost uncles", this movie hits second to last on this list! Like I said, the Casper and Kat scenes were the only ones I loved in the movie and by watching this next clip you'll see why... โ†“๐Ÿ‘ป

Watch for the parallels between each of these scenes... I mean talk about heart-warming! ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿงก

#12 - Under Wraps (1997)

Even though this movie is pretty low on this list, I did enjoy it! There were some laugh-out-loud moments and some heart-warming scenes that made this movie special. There are some discussions about having divorced parents and the emotions that come with one of your parents dating another person. Then, there are the sweet friendship moments as well! The reason it is lower on this list is because it does mention some things about gods (I hate typing that word) and if you know me then you know that subject is one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to conversation topics. There were also some other things such as "reading cards" and other psychic stuff mentioned that I didn't like. However, I was able to ignore those things and enjoy the moments I did like. Such as this next clip that features the song "All By Myself" and a lonely Harrold that is vibing to this song at the costume party... โ†“

#11 - Liar, Liar, Vampire (2015)

Okay, so this movie almost got put as number twelve, but it didn't mention the things that I disliked in Under Wraps, which is why it's above Harrold vibing to "All By Myself". ๐ŸŽต I had never seen this movie until this year and I had no idea it was inspired by the Twilight movies. My younger teenage self felt like she constantly saw the Twilight movies because her older sister was obsessed with them... but secretly younger me loved them too. Now, older me is a different story. I haven't seen those movies in forever! So, it was funny when I started noticing the parallels to those movies in this one! I think this is a more light-hearted movie that makes you laugh and is just fun to watch. I needed a movie like this one in between all the weird/creepy movies I was watching... *cough... Can of Worms... *cough. I liked the message about figuring out who you are, especially when you're the new kid, and not taking high school mistakes too seriously... well, the minor mistakes that is. I mean, I know we can all look back to our high school days and find something we wish we wouldn't have said or done. But, that's all a part of growing up and this movie shines a light on the fact that sometimes you mess up, but the most important thing is to realize your mistakes and own up to them. So, yeah, this movie was different... in a really good way! You know how I mentioned finding the parallels between this movie and Twilight?!? Well, check out this clip and tell me which Twilight movie this is from... it's really easy... like REALLY easy.... but it's worth the watch anyways โ†“๐Ÿง›

#10 - Don't Look Under the Bed (1999)

Wait, I did not know this movie came out the year I was born too! Wow, what a year for some freaky DCOMS! This one isn't as weird as Can of Worms, though. Well... it's actually weirder... but weirder in a good way and not the Can of Worms way. Did that make sense? Yeah, I didn't think so. Basically, this movie is all over the place with it's plot. However, it's chaos works for the vibe of it! It is definitely out there... like wayyyy out there... but it has a heart-warming message about not growing up too fast and how sometimes we grow up faster than we ought to because of certain situations life throws at us. This movie had it's creepy moments, but honestly, it wasn't that bad. I think I'll watch it again next year... yeah... I will watch it again next year. My mind is made up and I think I'm being "perfectly logical"... you'll get that quote by watching this next clip... โ†“

#9 - Twitches Too (2007)

Okay, if this had more Chilloween (that is what I call October 31st) vibes, then it would definitely rank higher. But, this movie is actually only set a little bit after the first movie and is not technically an October movie. Shocking, right?!? So, I have a major reason why I LOVE the plot of these movies, but I will talk about that when I get to the first Twitches movie. However, my sister (Back to Disney Blog) made a good point about this movie in her post and I started to agree with it as I watched this movie. Coventry is a big part of this movie's plot, but it isn't really explained in depth what Coventry is outside the castle walls. It is a missing piece for sure and makes you feel not as connected to the Coventry plotline. Also, in this movie there are some love interests thrown in and I feel those were a bit scrambled as well. For instance, I honestly think Alex was more suited for Demitri because of this next clip... โ†“

Don't you agree? Alex and Demitri seem like a better fit. Also, Camryn and him didn't have anymore scenes together until the very end where they make eye contact during the wedding. Like, what?!? Another plot hole. Even with all of those missed opportunities, this movie is still great and here is a heart-warming clip that gives you a hint about the major reason I LOVE these movies... โ†“

#8 - Girl vs. Monster (2012)

I watched this movie for the first time last year and I remember really enjoying it! This year I was excited to rewatch it and yes, I was so excited to jam to all the songs! ๐ŸŽถ Sadly, this movie didn't hit as much as it did last year, but I think it's because of how many movies I've been bingeing lately. However, I still LOVE the message about not letting fear control you. I think it's one of the best DCOM messages because fear and anxiety are so big in this day and age! This is one of the only October DCOMS that features music and it makes this movie stand-out for sure!! I did do a blog post ranking all of the songs in this movie. So, check that out if you want, but here is a peak at my favorite one... โ†“๐Ÿ’œ

#7 - Halloweentown High (2004)

So, this was so tough arranging the Halloweentown movies in order from least to most favorite! There are things that I enjoy in all of the Halloweentown movies and things that I don't like as much. As a kid, I remember really liking Halloweentown High because I thought it was cool that the creatures from Halloweentown were going to regular high school. However, the reason why I've ranked it last all these years later is because I kind of got annoyed with the Halloweentown students. They sometimes seemed a bit stuck-up in my opinion and didn't have the greatest attitudes. However, I did enjoy the love interest moments between Marnie and Cody and I also thought the ending was good as well! One minor annoyance was the Grandma's bag! Did anyone else find the "lizard bag" highly annoying too? Don't get me wrong, I did mostly enjoy this movie. There were just some small things that I didn't like that made it go lower than the rest of the movies in the series. But here are some fun flying clips... โ†“๐Ÿงน

#6 - Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge (2001)

I am still shocked that I liked this one better than the third movie this year, but this one just had more organization. I think the plot flowed really well and I wasn't bored throughout any of it. I got creeped out by the bleakness in this movie when I was younger, but it wasn't that creepy now that I'm older. The second movie still has more of a family-feel than the third one does because it still focuses mainly on the siblings, grandmother, and mom. Also, it still has Luke's character in it, which the third and fourth movies do not. I think the ending was creative and again, the family aspect was evident. It also had more Chilloween vibes than the third movie. On another note, I know Kal is the bad guy... but as a kid I thought he was a total cutie... โ†“๐Ÿ’“

As kids, I'm sure we were all excited to see Halloweentown again... but we didn't expect it to look like this... โ†“

#5 - Return To Halloweentown (2006)

For the people who hate on this movie just because it's a different actress who plays Marnie needs to go stand in a freezer and chill out! I actually think this movie has so much creativity and widens the Halloweentown idea much broader. It's also one of the only DCOMS that features a character in college, which is something I personally think they should do more of. I actually really loved this one as a kid and didn't even care that a different actress was playing Marnie. People should embrace what a new actress can give to a character, instead of criticizing how they're not exactly the same! This movie does have more "magic" in it, but it's not too bad. I really don't understand how people don't like this movie more than some of the others in the series because it has more relationship moments, a whole new Halloweentown setting, and another great ending! There is also another cool ๐Ÿจ๐ŸงŠ setting that is featured after another fun flying scene with some nostalgic background music... โ†“

#4 - Halloweentown (1998)

It's crazy how this movie came out before I was even born! This movie is a DCOM classic and one I watched every October as a kid. You know how I said I was creeped out by the second movie when I was a kid, but not anymore. Well, it's the opposite for this one! I was actually more creeped out when I watched it this past weekend than when I watched it as a kid. It's definitely a unique movie and watching it brought back ALL the feels! It is probably the most Chilloween feeling DCOM there is and one of the most nostalgic! I thought Marnie's character was a little annoying to her mom throughout a lot of this movie, but I think I am just getting old and now realizing that the teenagers weren't always as smart as their parents. This movie did have some sweet family scenes and it was nice seeing a movie where the kids care so much about their grandparent. Again, this is a classic and I did enjoy rewatching it after not watching it for so long. Even though I hadn't seen it in years, I still didn't forget all the words to practically EVERY scene! Here is one of my favorite scenes from when I was little... โ†“๐Ÿช

Oh, and we can't leave out the iconic scene of the siblings arriving in Halloweentown for the first time! โ†“๐ŸŽƒ

#3 - Twitches (2005)

This movie was going to be placed as number five, before two of the Halloweentown movies. However, it made it to the top-three because of one reason. I love how this movie talks about more real-life situations, one being adoption. Adoption is a topic I am very interested in and it's so cool how the dialogue in the scene where Camryn is talking to her mom about her biological mom is something I've actually heard in a real-life YouTube video of a mom talking about her thoughts on her kids' biological parents. โ†“

This movie kept having me think about the real-life adoption stories I've read/heard about and it was really heart-warming to remember all of the reunited-siblings stories because siblings really do get split up and just like in this movie someone might not even know they have a sibling until way later on in life. Also, I loved how each sister had a different background and different personality, but still came together and didn't let their differences keep them apart. Another thing I love about this movie is how the sisters have "gifts", which are writing and drawing. I think it's super creative how they tied-in those creative art forms in this movie! This movie is very nostalgic and I've always loved the scenes where "Rush" plays in the background. Music montages are the best!! โ†“๐ŸŽต

#2 - Mom's Got A Date With A Vampire (2000)

I remember really liking this movie as a kid, but I didn't remember it at all until I rewatched it this year! This movie is a whole vibe! I love the sibling relationships and just the whole movie!! It just clicked with me and I really enjoyed it! The early 2000s vibe is everything and again, the brother/sister bonding scenes were sweet to watch! I didn't get bored once while watching this and I felt a connection with every character... well, all of the good characters! I really can't say anything else other than I LOVE this movie and can't wait to watch it again next year! โ†“๐Ÿง›

Ready for my FIRST pick on this list... are you sure you're ready?!?

Drum roll please... ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿฅ

#1 - Phantom of the Megaplex (2000)

No wonder I love this movie and "Mom's Got A Date With A Vampire" so much! They came out the same year. Wow, the year 2000 had some GREAT DCOMS! Technically, this movie is set during the summer. However, I've always seen it as an October movie and I can't tell you how many Octobers I've watched this one! I love how this movie is set in a movie theatre and again, the sibling relationships are fun to watch! What kid wouldn't want to run around a movie theatre looking for a phantom?!? Okay, maybe I would have been too scared as a kid to roam where I wasn't supposed to. However, I did search around my elementary school looking for a secret hidden door... no joke!! This movie is another one that brings back so many nostalgic memories and now that I'm older and have my own job it's super relatable too! Did you go to the movie theatre a lot when you were younger? The movie theatre and skating rink were the places to be where I grew up! โ†“๐ŸŽฌ
